Thank you all. He seemed a little better as the night went on and then at bedtime insisted he didn't want a baby brother or sister. We are just finding out so there is plenty of time to warm him up to the idea. I've already told him he can help with anything he wants and his father and him have a bet on the due date :) I'm gping to include him as much as I can and I've been reminding him he's my number 1! Thanks ladies :)
It takes time. My kids were so happy when we told them we were having baby number 3 but my son cried when he found out it's a girl but is soooooo I love with her now. Now in pregnant with baby number 4 and again my eldest two are excited but talk a lot about what the sex of the baby could be x
I'm sure he's just overwhelmed and will become more excited as you include him in watching videos of how baby is progressing and help him see how he can help get ready for his/her arrival. I think by helping him make the baby "his" he will slip right into the big brother role. :) Congratulations to your family!
It's one thing to theoretically think someone might come along to be a playmate, and another to be told that for real, soon there will be a little rival for Mom's time, energy and affections living in the same house, and he will be told he has to like this and be nice.
