Has your husband attended any birth classes with you? Has he talked to other dads? I'd start with those two things- as other fathers that you know how they felt their experience in the birth room was, if you get positive feedback from them- ask them if they wouldn't mind talking to your husband about it (not in a way that lectures, but just shares their experience). The birth class can help- and he should be able to ask the teacher (or even ask your doctor) what some ways he can help your pain. He doesn't have to look the whole time, and he can just stare at your face- he won't need to look anywhere else, so you can remind him of that too. Make sure he knows that the pain is temporary and that just being with you will help ease it. I think talking and communicating is the best way to make sure his fears are put at ease. Good luck!
When is your due date, by the way?
Thank you Ive just had a discussion with him and we have desided that he will be with me through the contractions and when its time to push bub ill get him to leave to the next room or even behind the curtin as being my 3rd im sure the pushing stage wont be as long fingers crossed
Congrats on the baby, again! So, this is your third. I would tell him what an amazing experience it is. That seeing the birth of your child is the most fantastic thing on earth an that you would hate if he regretted it some day. I'd tell him to try--- he can step out and in as needed. And just ask him to do it for you. See what he says. My husband is funky about things too but describes the experience of seeing his sons born to be a spiritual moment in his life. Let us know how the conversation goes. :>)) Best of luck to you sweetie
