engorged breast....

Gave birth Monday and not breastfeeding....my breast were fine til last night/this morning. I never even leaked my whole pregnancy or while in the hospital. Now they are HUGE and hurt like hell. Im normally a C/D cup and i look like a DD right now. I bumped into a wall at my house and almost cried. Im not sure how to help make them go down and stop leaking. Any other mothers going through this and have some advice.

Lil_Avas_mommy if you express the milk you will just encourage your body to produce more. If you aren't breast feeding gits a big no no to hand express of pump to relieve the pain.

Green cabbage! Not lettuce, lettuce won't work ... Cabbage has a specific enzyme in it that helps dry up your milk

Take a warm shower and squeeze the milk out to relieve the pressure.

Thanks ladies. I'll try the lettuce and ice pack. If they don't work or go down by monday I'll talk to my doctor at my follow up appointment.

You can put some cabbage leaves on them and wrap yourself with an ace bandage.  It worked like a charm with my 2.

The hospital where I live gives u a pill to dry it up if you aren't going to breast feed. U might call ur dr and ask. Other than to pump or breast feed I'm not sure how yo relieve the pressure... try cold compresses to help with pain.
