Sonotech55.thank u so much.I was worried because I use to have ultrasound without doctor's recommendation if I have any problem like less movement n cervix.tell me what's the best way to check cervix without having transvaginal ultrasound
There has never been anything to prove ultrasound is harmful to fetus'. There has been speculation and studies done, but nothing says ultrasonic waves (which is what ultrasound is) are harmful to unborn babies. In your case, I'm certain the benefit outweighs the risk. Truthfully, I've had patients that had to come in twice per week for a BPP and their babies came out perfectly fine. (I love when patients bring the baby back after the birth for us to meet in person lol.) So while I can't say with 100% certainty, I can tell you that thus far, science has deemed ultrasound safe for fetus'.
I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer them to the best of my ability.

It sounds like the doctor wants to do what's called a biophysical profile (BPP). There are many reasons to want this type of ultrasound done weekly so I can't say why specifically your doctor wants it done.
Some of the common reasons are:
-high risk pregnancy
-amniotic fluid concerns
-multiple pregnancy
And the list goes on...
A BPP basically checks the overall well being of the baby. At the end, baby should receive a score of 8/8. The points are based on amniotic fluid level, fetal movement, fetal "breathing" and fetal tone (flexing/extending limbs). The baby is given 30 mins to show the sonographer all of these necessary movements. If a baby "fails" the test, the ob may consider delivering the baby early.
I hope this information helps you understand what's going on. You shouldn't be scared or worried. It is a very common thing to have to do. Your dr is just trying to ensure your little one is happy and healthy :) At least you'll get to see baby every week. =)
Did you ask your doctor why??
