LMP compared to ultrasound dates?

Hi Everyone,

My last period was on 27 Dec and I have a regular 25 day cycle. I had a positive OPK on Saturday 5 Jan and my husband and I BD that night. On 20th Jan I  took a clearblue HPT that said I was pregnant (2-3 weeks post conception). This puts my due date at 30th Sept (although the doctor said 1 October).

So that mean that I was 7 weeks + 5 days. yesterday  (16  February) when I went for my ultrasound.

But the ultrasound dated my pregnancy at 6 weeks + 0  day. The sonographer saw the fetal pole, yolk sack and a tiny little heartbeat and said that everything was fine but I must have my dates wrong. But based on her dates I would have conceived on 19th Jan - one day before I got a positive pregnancy test.

I'm really confused as I can't see how my dates could be so wrong. If the dates are right then I am worried that the baby isn't growing as he or she should be,  Does anyone have any ideas?

The other things the sonographer said was that there was a dark patch that she said could be a small bleed or a twin that didn't grow. Could I have ovulated twice - once on 6th Jan and then again two weeks later (without any bleeding in between)?

I'm so confused - I'd be really grateful if someone could please offer some suggestions.

Thanks, x

Just thought I would put an update for anyone else in the same position in the future.
I have been feeling fine with no bleeding. I went for my 12 week scan today but they found that the baby hadn't really grown. I have to wait a week and go back for another scan but I already know that this baby just isn't meant to be.
Just have to wait and see whether I start bleeding or whether I need a d&c.

We are totally gutted. Guess I'm not newmum2b after all. X

Thanks everyone - I appreciate you taking the timeto comment.

Karichia2103 - so what happened at you next scan?

Rockrose - The sonographer gave a edd of 12 October so 12 days after my date. But I'm new to all this so maybe I'm getting confused!

Your estimated due date is just that an estimation. As for the bleed I wouldn't worry about it. I had one and the first Dr I saw was sure I was going to miscarry...I'm now almost 15 weeks.

Your calculations are only one day apart on the due date

I think the confusion here is in counting your cycle - you have a shorter cycle than typical,  so that messes up the two free weeks you get at the beginning of pregnancy.

You calculate you're due Sept. 30,  they calculate Oct 1,  which is the same due date,  virtually.

I have a small bleed too. They said will go away by itself and is very common.

Sometimes I think google is more of a problem than a help cause there is so much information!

With my son, according to my period I should have been due Jan 14th. The sonogram showed me due Jan 27th. I was sure they were wring. He came on his own on Jan 24th, so I guess they were closer.

I wouldn't fret too much. As long as they said everything is fine. Sometimes its hard to tell on ultrasounds that early. I would wait to talk to your doctor and things may be different at your next ultrasound
