ok, seriously

Does anyone on here actually talk to their doctors and ask questions or read pregnancy books?  I feel like so many people on here are looking to other clueless people about major issues. Don't ask people you don't know to give you advice on something critical like should I go to the hospital!!! All obs should have a triage line you can call and ask questions if you are that concerned. People on the Internet are not medical professionals.  And most doctors would slap you silly if you had a major issue and listened to strangers rather than call them and ask.

I agree with people reaching out for advice from experienced mothers, because whom better to ask rather then a obgyn whom is a male and has never experienced being pregnant. He gets his information from a book not real life. Thats why I find this app very helpful even more so then my doctor's.

I virtually jumped down a lady's throat the other day because she was asking if green discharge and blood was normal! It's like "hello! Wth is wrong with you! Go see your doctor!" I normally am not mean when I respond to people, but I think my herimones were on over drive that day lol! As it turned out, she delivered the next day and her baby ended up in the nciu for a little while-- thank goodness both turned out OK. Anyways, I agree with your argument, but also remember what it was like to be a ftm-- man I wish we had apps back then. I read many books but still went to the er every time something moved! Lol

I think her point is if you think it's a possible emergency you should call your doc or just go to the er. As a nurse I can tell you that symptoms aren't the same for everyone for all things.  And what might have turned out okay for one, could end in tragedy for another. Getting support is one thing,  but too many are looking for diagnostic answers instead of communicating with their doctors.

Um maybe some of us are trying to decipher what's an emergency from what's not. I thought this app was about reaching out for support. I had an issue today that I posted and one person responded turned out I didn't need to go to the hospital. FYI I have read books and I communicate very well with my doctor. Honestly I just wonder if anyone experienced it. If I can't come on a pregnancy app to seek advice from other mothers then what can we talk about? Seriously?

I took a 4 week class with a labor and delivery teacher/doula. I also read a lot on the net and books. I know my dr now and previous dr before i moved say everything is normal for any question i ask personally. Ive pointed things out to hear oh thats normal and next week they point it out like oh your really swollen(something i pointed out probably 6 visits in a row). I wont give any advice that is major or that its not something i've personally learned, but sometimes people just want to hear a real person answer maybe or maybe they need someone to tell them to call the dr so they dont feel like theyre being paranoid. Just a guess.

not everyone has a good doc. I was very disappointed with the lack of knowledge my midwife and the doc exhibited. many of them are either textbook or clueless.
I also think that ppl who ask questions on here know that most of us are just regular pregnant women and not medical professionals. thus, we are pretty much aware that what we receive are opinions and sharing of own experience and not professional advice.
but I like to hear what other women have to say, cuz most of the time the ladies on here are making sense and being sincere. many ppl also suggest to consult a doc when appropriate. I'm very thankful for the info and support I receive on here!

I have a pregnancy book and I love it, helps answer most questions you may have..... but the more concerning questions I have I go straight to my doctor. ..

I am a FTM and I like to hear this ladies chat cause some of them have been threw this already, and they pass on their experience. What the outcome was for them in a similar situation. If it a serious situation I would of course call my ob. But I enjoy the chat:)

Lol @ slap you silly because that's exactly what my doc would do! Some ppl either dnt trust their docs idk why, or they are just feel silly for calling the hospital all the time! Me personally I go I with a list of questions concerns and all that stuff when I see my doc. We keep it real because I gotta trust the person who will be all up in my vag lol. But I feel you some questions need to be addressed to professionals and not the internet!

Im honestly just suprised people dont go out & read a pregnancy book. It saved me a lot of worrying and was very informational about everything! Being a ftm i didnt want to go into this blind.

Well some of us are medical professionals; ) But my advice typically consists of "Call your doctor". I think people feel dumb calling sometimes about things,  but they certainly shouldn't.  Is what triage and the er is there for:)
