Labor story 11/13/14

Milena Kay Valerio was born last night with a very difficult labor...
I was 40+6 so my doctor wanted to induce.... we started induction at 5:00 pm Wednesday night with Cervidil. The Cervidil did it's job. By midnight that night I was starting contractions that were every 3 minutes apart.  Cervidil is placed to soften the cervix but it did that and also kick started my labot. At 7 am Thursday morning the nurse took the Cervidil out and placed me on Pitocin via IV. I Asked for an epidural before any of that started since my pain level was so high! At about 4 PM Thursday I was at 10 centimeters and ready to start pushing. Doctor was a lottle bothered that the baby was 'Sunnyside up' (that would explain my horrible pain from the start of labor on Wed). After some pushing, we noticed my baby Milena's heart rate kept going down. They gave me an oxygen mask which seemed to help her. I pushed for 2 hours with barely any progress & at that point since she was posterior & dropping heart rate doctor wanted to do an emergency c-section. He said that if I wanted to do vaginal it would really harm the baby at this point and the best thing to do for her was surgery. We were taken down to the OR and surgery took about an hour. I got really sick during the procedure and started throwing up. It was not  pretty ..... Baby Milena was born arpund 9 o'clock... I am still feeling effexts of lots of meds, no sleep and no food. Rough couple of days.
Milena is a natural at breastfeeding, basically teaching me how to do it! She's a very healthy 8.5 lbs.

Congrats mama! I had my little guy a couple weeks ago and we also had a very rough 23 hour labor, but in the end both of us are fine, he was almost 9 lbs! still very tired, I haven't slept much since he's been born, but it's getting better with time. Enjoy your little one :)
