My first son was born August 24 2010 all i can say is stay hydrated that ia what caused my extra pain i didn't drink enough water and i was swollen and put on extra ivs. i ended up in the er that july for dehydration . Just try to relax and stay hydrated!! The wondering and.not know with delivery will drive you crazy with what.ifs. but.until you get there you.never really know how it will play out. i was scared.to death of needles also but.i.got.to say when i had.my.first iv i barely felt it compared to the needles they used for all the bloodwork during the pregnancy. so i wish you a happy healthy peanut goodluck!!!!!
With my first pregnancy, I waited until I couldn't stand the pain anymore before I asked for an epidural. I could not distinguish the pain in the front from the getting the epidural part, but afterwards was great. I got to relax and felt nothing. So with my second pregnancy, I asked for pain medicine and the epidural before I started to hurt, it also takes a little while for the anesthesiologist to get the order as well, so keep that in mind too. I had basically nothing stronger than mild period cramps, and I was reading a magazine and they went to check me and he was crowning. I'm now pregnant with my 3rd and not scared at all. With getting an epidural, you only feel the prick of the needle for a split second and you get really numb, after that is just pressure, like someone pushing on you. It doesn't hurt. Just don't take any medicine to help you sleep, because if your groggy, you'll miss out. I knew someone who did that and doesn't remember a lot of having their first kid because of that. She said it was the worst thing she could have done and didn't do it worth the other two. Just relax though, we are in 2014 and women have had babies for a long time and the pain medicine they have now is great! Just enjoy it!! Be excited to see your baby.
I'm terrified of the pain too. I just keep telling myself that the pros outweigh the cons and if it was so bad then women choose to have a second child.
I hate pain, needles etc.....
I dont know im only 17 ...
You ease into the pain. Starts out light and gets stronger so just relax and take deep breaths! :)
Stretch every day. Go walking. Do lunges and squats. No weightlifting or extreme cardio. Often your doctor will know if classes you can take and other moms you can socialize with and that will help prepare you too. Good luck
