We waited til after the 1st trimester ended. Then started. We figure that's what a registry is for, if its not on it, we probably already own it. :)
After the shower, so people don't buy you doubles. Once upon a child is a great place to get second hand baby stuff.
We waited until after the baby shower to buy anything other than a few cute onesies & decorating pieces we found at yard sales & good will.
I would recommend making sure the crib isn't on any recall lists & that its up to current safety regulations (no drop side, etc) before using it.

Wait til after 12 weeks at least! But I've been buying stuff all through and it took a huge weight off my shoulders now that I'm 3 weeks away! I have enough diapers and wipes to last me through maternity leave which were all bought with coupons! I got a lot of hand me downs with clothes. And of course your going to get a lot of the big expensive items at your shower. Honestly if I didn't buy anything this pregnancy would have dragged on. I think making some purchases throughout helps get you through it, it kept me extra excited.
Buy stuff after ur shower. By then ull know wat u need
Buy when ever you feel like it. With This Pregnancy I Will Be 20 Weeks Tomorrow And I Have Not Bought A Single Item For son nor even a shirt. Reason being, I was pregnant earlier this year and I bought two cribs and several items which I looked at with sadness every day after I lost my babies. If you are not in a situation like I am don't wait. Now am on bed rest for the rest of this pregnancy and I have to depend on hubby and computer to buy things for my son.Do your shopping while you can.
You have to store it all for almost a year :). I started getting clothes at garage sales after the anatomy scan at 20 weeks. I put it off because I wanted to make sure to get past 3 months and then it was helpful to know boy or girl. I wish I didn't buy any blankets. People give them as gifts even when you say you have enough. I had lots of hand me downs too so it was helpful to wait to see what I would be missing. With a used crib, make sure it us not a dropside and meets the safety standards of current regulations. Didn't know that ahead of time and had to check it when someone gave it to me. (It was fine.) Also, don't get a used car seat unless you are 100% sure it was never in an accident, and they also have an expiration date. That's something that would be safest new. My county wic office offers them for no charge if someone takes a car seat safety class. No reason to have an expired or unsafe car seat.
If you did want to start buying now, diapers are a good thing to get deals for and get ahead on. They can be returned for exchange in size if they are unopened. Otherwise, I just started looking in pinterest and dreaming until practicality set in :).
I started buying one week after i found out and I'm glad i did BC i got great deals on stuff that are no longer on sale
I personally wouldn't buy anything until after your first scan. Just to be on the safe side. I'm 31 weeks pregnant with my first child and pregnancy goes fast but not that fast that you need to buy anything in the first trimester. :)
I'm keeping the big purchases for my third trimester. I'll also look out for deals then. to buy clothes I waited until I know the gender. now I'll just buy a few things every once in a while so it doesn't become a huge expense at one shot. I didn't buy anything before 20 weeks.
u might also wanna wait and see what you get at your baby shower if you're planning on having one. Also consider hand-me-downs etc.
