I'm pregnant with my 5th baby and my Dr. Has given me an u/s the first visit every time but then every Dr. Is different. Hopefully they give you one soon :)
Ive had 4 ultasounds so far. 1at 9 weeks and I suckered her into doing the ultasound cause I thought I was having twins, they run in my family, 1 at 12 for birth defects specifically down syndrome, 1 at 16 for an early gender reveal I had to pay extra for (and it was right), 1at 20 weeks for anatomy. Im 22weeks now. This is my first pregnancy/baby. I dont think they do an ultasound as early as you are in some practices, my doc wouldnt even see me till 9 weeks.
Thank u all for your comments. Its reassuring to know this. I've had a whole lot of blood tests done about a month before I found out I was pregnant. Today I just did a urine test to check for any urine infections. Thank u all once again xxx
They May Do One At 8 Weeks Tho When You Go Back To Check For Heartbeat And Make Sure You Are Correct On Your Due Date. They May Have Just Not Said They Would.
I Had 1 At 7 For Cramping One At 8 For My First Appt 2 At 12 Weeks....It Was The downe Syndrome Test And My Dr Is Just Nice And Likes To Do I've At 12 Weeks And Then I Had My anatomy Scan At 17 Weeks And A For Fun 3d At 32 Weeks. So 6.... :)
In Australia we do a scan @ 12-13 w for birth defects then again at 20w.
Oh and this is my 3 pregnancy, and for all 3 the first appointment was not just to confirm but all the test they do.
With 3 of my 4 pregnancies I only had the one ultrasound at around 20 weeks. The only one I had one earlier was because we didnt know how far along I was. At 5 weeks they would probably just check for pregnancy, then do routine blood work at your first real appointment. The doctor may also do an ultrasound then, some just do it right there in their office, so they wouldnt have had to book you for one either.
Ask for one. I get ine every three weeks threw the first trimester to try and prevent miscarriage and check for proper growth. So at 6,9, and 12 weeks. You can always switch to a better dr. Midwives are great they do what you say.
You might get your first ultrasound d around 10 or 11 weeks. But after that it won't be until 20 weeks or even after;) I know it's seems like a long time but it will go by fast.
Usually first appointment is just to confirm pregnancy. Second appointment is for all the tests and pelvic exam. Most doctors don't do that until 8-12 weeks.
Strange, did they do all the blood work, pap , breast , exam
? Usually first visit is for that and for background history and questions.. and then the next appointment is in a month or so.
Unless there is question about how far along you are or if you having complications they really only need to do anatomy scan around 20 weeks. If you decide to check for the markers for birth defects they will do a scan around 16 weeks.
