I'll be getting mine closer to when I deliver. Haven't got the flu vaccine yet but I probably will even though my babies aren't due til April. I had it with my son 2 years ago (tdap) but they recommend it every pregnancy now I guess since of the rise in whooping cough
I got my TDAP and will get my flu shot. I'm also a nurse and feel the benefits are important. Fyi- when you ask people why or why not that's setting the stage for a debate;)
I got my flu vaccine at my last OB appointment. I have never had the flu, and I definately don't want that mess now. I will have the other when ut us offered to me. I am 18 weeks, so I expect they will offer it later.
I dont get the flu vax because i have not gotten the flu in over 20yrs. This was not intentional...I just did not realize till I got pregnant that I never got the shot. I did not with my first and wont with my second but I did give it to my son prior to him going to preschool and will do so with the next one. I may even get the flu shot while im breastfeeding so my baby will get some antibidies. I think im just lucky like my mom. She never had a flu shot amd she had 6kids! She rarely got sick.my hubby gets the flu amd I treat him but still dont get sick. So I have him get it. I really do not think that vaccines are a horrible thing.
Tdap is very important and you should make sure anyone who will be holding the baby a lot gets it. even if you got the tdap post birth breastfeeding will give the baby antibodies.
Ok I just simply want a yes or no and why or why not. Don't really want it to turn into a pro-vax or anti-vax convo.
Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis. They are all important however the pertussis component is what is really needed to protect baby. Pertussis (whooping cough) can cause severe respiratory issues in children, and especially in young infants since their respiratory system is still so fragile. It's also been making a comeback due to people refusing vaccination and there are outbreaks of it around the country (and the world).
Tdap is the whooping cough/ tetnis vaccine.
I got both when I was 25 weeks. I'm 28 now. And all 3 members of my family have the flu. I was lucky to have gotten. It when I did
What is a tdap I asked the nurse but she got busy left and never answered
I got my Tdap and my flu. As a nurse I know the risks and benefits of both and it was a no-brainer for me to decide to get them both. There is no reason to not protect baby to the best of your ability, and that means getting vaccinated.
