Cervical canal length

I had an ultrasound at 35 weeks and got the report today and it says my cervical canal is 6cm, from what I've heard it's meant to be at least 3cm by now. What does this mean ? My dr appointment isn't until tomorrow. Thanks

There's no "supposed to be" with birth. :) If you read enough stories and talk to enough people there is literally no guarantee of anything happening at any certain time. Even the same woman can have as many different experiences as she has pregnancies. Don't even worry. Your body is made to do this and not on anybody's schedule but it's own. Women have walked around for weeks almost fully effaced and 5 cm dialated and other women haven't "progressed" at all and the next day they have their baby. There's no time-frame for these things as much as doctors would love to have that level of control. You're doing great!

Mine was 6cm at 37 weeks last pregnancy. Just means it hasn't started to soften and shorten yet. It could happen very quickly for you but I wouldn't worry at 35 weeks. You want baby in for much longer anyway.
