Questions about being induced

Hello ladies, I am being induced today at 37 weeks due to a medical necessity. However, I am nervous & anxious about getting through this most crucial part of my life and I just wanted some input on what to expect when I arrive at L&D. I was just told to be there at 7pm to check in & doc will start the process. What medicine do they start you on & how does it make you feel? And at what centimeter do they advise you to get an epidural? Can you eat anything during this time before u deliver?

Congrats mama. Don't expect it to be quick since you are being admitted in the PM. Here is my story:
I was admitted at 6:30 pm on a Thursday evening. We went to dinner beforehand because I wasn't sure when I would eat again. I was checked into L&D and brought to a delivery room where they hooked me up to a million monitors and gave me cervidill to help dilate me ,I was only 2 cmtrs. After a few hours my husband and mom went home because we lived 2 blocks from the hospital. Everytime I moved the monitor would lose the babies heartbeat and would set off a bell. Nurses would come in and adjust them ( it led to no sleep). Every time I needed to pee I had to get all unhooked and the hooked up again. At 9:30 the next morning my doctor came in to check me, no more progress. So he broke my water and started the pitocin drip. By about 2 pm my contractions were intense so I got a shot of Nubane for pain (awful it just made me feel drunk and in pain). I was still just at 3 cmtrs. By 4 pm my husband convinced me to get an epidural. I felt like a floating head after but it made me very I'll and I vomited a lot! Still at 3cmtrs. I could hear my mom and nurses talking and kept hearing "c section", my greatest fear. After that my body must have gone into overdrive because by 6 I was at 9 cmtrs. My epidural completely wore off by 7. At 8:30 they told me to start pushing.  I puked, passed out, was so hot I ripped my gown off and demanded the air conditioning turned on full blast (it was the middle of December in Wisconsin). My daughter was born at 10:24 pm on Friday night. 28 hours after I was admitted.  I was tired and starving but was so in love with my baby I would have done it all again. The nurse knew how long I had been there and brought me milk, pudding and toast from her own lunchbox because the cafeteria was closed and wouldn't be open for like 5 more hours.
Hope it didn't freak you out.  You can do this. COngrats mommy

Dont worry and im having my little guy in less then 2 weeks and i had to be induced too. They did all the same things as lilahand  but i went in in the morning they put a little stick to dilate me went home and then was to call in when i had contractions  5 mins apart. I was 3-4 cm by then they broke my water gave me an epidural and platocin and a cathadure and it was just a waiting period. Bring things to do cuz as much as they tell u to sleep it is hard and if u do it is short naps. Bring stuff to distract u and the time !!! Good luck and you will be fine !!!

I was induced at 39 weeks. I had to stop eating at 12 midnight the day before. You will only be able to eat ice & drink water. Once you check-in you will get an IV. I believe I just received fluids first like the saline solution. My doctor then gave me medicine to start contractions. I came in at 7:30AM. I received that medicine at about 8am. My water was broken at 9am with a little plastic stick, no pain. Then its up from there.Nasty...lol they just stick a pad under you & a towel between your legs EVERYTHING just running out until it's time to push. You can still go to the restroom. You may have to poo quit a bit before pushing. Last I got my epidural early, like 3cm I just couldn't take it. After you get it you can no longer get out of bed but it was a life saver. Then you regularly get checked. Have to use a bed pan. Eventually I got a Cath. & just emptyed the bag on regular. Finally after 22hrs Amy my daughter was born. 9lbs 12oz a few stitches. Good Luck! Just remember when the bright lights come on its show time. :)
