It was definitely a blessed moment for me to have my baby in a birthing center without medical doctors making every choice for me. The body knows exactly what it needs each step alone the process. The natural route was amazing, and my baby did not come out drugged up either. There where moments of pain, but it was manageable with my support team. I'm not sure if it would try laying on a table in a traditional setting without meds thought. I'm say that because it was able to walk, move, and eat my entire labor and delivery and it believe that made it easier. However, being told in could only lay on a table and wait naturally would probably make it a lot harder
I recently gave birth at home all natural, pain med free. It was a wonderful and empowering experience. Every woman will have a different opinion and experience regarding labor and delivery. When I am asked "was your natural birth painful?" I answer no because I truly didn't experience pain. I would describe my surges (contractions) as uncomfortable and I felt a lot of pressure towards the end but not pain.
This question seems self explanatory. You're asking if giving birth without pain meds hurts more than giving birth with pain meds? What do you think pain meds do, exactly?
Yes, giving birth naturally is hard, and yes, it is painful. I personally felt that it was important for me to be in total control of my birthing experience instead of being completely numbed with drugs and told what to do. Giving birth med-free was a very powerful experience, difficult but tolerable with a lot of support, stubbornness, and determination, and worth every minute. I'll be having my second natural birth this summer and I'm very much looking forward to it.
Hey I'm expecting my second. When I had my first I had gas the pethidine, so can't say did it completely without any medication but it was fine although I am not ever going to use pethidine again. It was made me so drowsy and sick.
