I was wondering the same thing. I haven't had a vaginal exam at all with this pregnancy. I'm 32 weeks now. My doctor said he doesn't like giving them cause he doesn't want to disturb anything in or down there. Whatever that means! I figured they'd have given me one by now. But not complaining! Having that done is usually painful anyway!

When ultrasound is done, the cervix is visible and is checked to see if its closed. Its also measured.

Pregnancy is a waiting game. Unless something goes wrong it's pretty much nothing she can do but listen for the heart beat and make sure your weight and measurements are good.

33wks isn't full term yet so unless you are showing symptoms of preterm labor there is no reason to check your cervix this early

I had a vaginal exam done at 10 weeks and after that there's no reason to constantly get checked. I don't remember being checked when I was pregnant with my son until I was in the hospital to have him. I wouldn't worry about it.  As far as your doctor, if you have questions ask and take your time..she works for you and some doctors seem to forget that. Best wishes :)

I'm 22 weeks and have not had an internal exam yet. I thought it was weird too. I asked my dr and she said she only checks once at 36 weeks.

With my first I'm pretty sure my midwife didn't check my cervix til I was 39 weeks or later - I appreciated that since it's not too comfortable to get checked all the time.  I wouldn't be worried - It is pretty unlikely you would be dialated this early and if so nothing more than 1cm which isn't anything exciting.  Maybe the dr. being in a rush every apt makes you nervous and feel uncared for but the fact that she doesn't check your cervix is no big deal.  I'm 30.5 weeks and never been checked once for this baby.
