100% cocoa butter works for my family. this is my firat baby, and my aunts and cousins and my mom all swear by it.
I need to ask my mom if she got any...am 22wks and dont have any yet...knock on wood too...but I still have a long way to go. But I am using Palmers coco butter I put it on at least twice a day. Fingers crossed I dont get any....lol
Genetics play the biggest role in whether or not you will get them. I only got them with my first pregnancy in the last two weeks. Haven't developed new ones with my last or this baby..knock on wood ;)
Dont scratch. If you tend to scratch at night, wear a belly band..or worse case..mittens?
Just dont scratch your beautiful skin.. it will not help the itching either.
All the best <3
From what I've read online is that its not unusual for stretchmarks to appear right at the end.. like week 38 or 39..
Genetics play a role, of course.
But you can help or make things worse.
Lotion, oil, body butter is all good things to lather up in.. but drinking plenty of water is the secret to good and healthy skin.
Thanks ladies!! I was looking into buying the Palmers belly butter, and now I think I just might. Gonna try to stop scratching too!! Itchy belly *****! Lol my mom got strrtch marks really bad with her pregnancies, so I'm crossing my fingers that it's not genetic! Lol I don't have a Sephora where I live, but I think I'll check it out online anyway!!
Im 38 weeks almost and SWEAR by mustela double action stretch mark cream. Got it from sephora initially but its cheaper and bigger at buy buy baby and you can use 20% coupon cuz its a little pricey. I got 1 tiny skin colored one very early on but thats it so far. I have several family members(including 2 sisters) with a lot and they are the purpley ones, so as of today i can't blame genetics cuz i've just got the tiny one. I also avoid scratching myself completely. I will rub or pat when itchy because that can do something too. I put the lotion on 2x a day and will for a couple months after baby is born to be safe. I could wake up tomorrow or a month after baby with them so ya never know but so far that lotion is great. I found it from reviews from people with same family stretch mark stories as myself.
Unfortunately u can't avoid them... Moisturizing def helps with elasticity tho...So it may lessen the chances but I've learnt genetics play a role...just keep using moisturizers and try to keep ur weight gain steady... If it's sudden ur more likely to get stretch marks. I've known people to have none until the last few weeks of pregnancy so do ur best in the meanwhile...
I use Palmers coco butter oil and the butter. With my first 2 pregnancies I had no stretch marks at all. With my last my tattoos that I have on my hips swelled up like stencils lol but I had no marks afterwards (thank God) with this pregnancy though
Some women are prone to them just by genetics alone and not many lotions will help much, but coconut oil, bio oil, belly butters, are great for keeping the skin hydrated!
I'm 30 weeks and have no stretch marks anywhere on my belly, sides or breast, but I had a ton of stretch marks on my thighs from growing up so I figured I would get them on my tummy but not yet :)
I got this oil from Sephora that I like a lot, I forget the name but it smells great and has lasted almost my entire pregnancy!
