Survival chance of 840 grams baby boy

My sister gave birth a baby yesterday at 27th weeks 3 days of her pregnancy, natural birth. Her water got broken and she is in the hospital for one week.  Baby's weight is 840 grams. He is in NICU. Everything seems fine with him except the risk of jaundice and infection. Please give me some advice about how we should work with him for his secured tomorrows. How much is his chances of survival? We just don't want to Lose him in any cost.
Please advise someone who has been thorough this situation and specialist, who is working with type of cases,ASAP.

His chances of survival are very good. My daughter was born at 32 weeks gestation and she is 10 now. We went through a lot of emotions and a few complications. She stayed in nicu for 7 weeks. When she was about 4 weeks old the nurse looked at me and said, "she's not going to die". It was the first time anyone reassured me like that and it made me cry with relief.
When people told me stories about their premature babies and how they are older healthier kids now I couldn't even imagine my Grace being older and healthier, all I could think of was how afraid I was for her life.
Your nephew will be OK. The medical technology has improved even more in the past 10 years since my daughter was born.

Hi I had my daughter at 24weeks, weighing 700grams,5 yrs ago!
All I can do is tell you how hubby and I coped and her situation bit remember every preemie is very different, they do things their way, anything my daughter had or went through might not apply to your nephew and he was born 3 weeks later, which makes a huge difference.
My daughter did well at first, preemies tend to have a honeymoon period, she was on a vent for a long time and her eyes were still fussed closed for 2 weeks after birth. things that effected her the most is infection! It can really knock it out of preemies.
Dd had a pda which was surgically closed, a bowel perforation and later she had a constriction in her bowel which were both surgically fixed. She also had laser eye surgery.
Hubby and I literally dived straight in! All tube feeds, nappy changes, bed baths, changing bedding we did! She was our baby after all. I expressed for 8 weeks, hardest thing ever and I wasn't allowed to hold dd for the first 6weeks due to the vent.
The main thing with preemies is to remember that it is literally one step forward and 2 back! Every preemie is different! Deal with it the way you think you can but my advice here is definetwly dive straight in.
There are lots of things preemies can get, most are not life long! And try as hard as possible NOT to Google them, so easy said I know
Let me know if there is anything specific you want to know and if I can help I willgood luck to your sister! It's a huge emotional rollercoaster and it is not easy! But so so worth it!!!
I have a very happy healthy 5 yr old and I'm so incredibly lucky because she has no 'conditions' or problems from being a Orem. She is just small x

I just looked it up and the survival rate for a baby born at 26 weeks is 80%. So with him being born at 27 weeks I'm guessing it's a little but not much over 80%. My thought and prayers are with you and your family!!
