Honestly I think prenatals can be a real waste of time for some people. If you want vitamins to actually target what you need, you need to get tested. I got blood tests which found out I was low in Mg, Zn, Iron, Vit D, B12. Plus took a gene test for MTHFR gene which showed I don't even absorb folic acid, so I need other forms of folate. I take the specific vitamins/minerals for what I'm deficient in. If I just took a regular prenatal it would really do jack all. Not saying they are useless for everyone, but unless you get tested you won't really know.

(I did all this through a naturopath as doctors seem to know nothing about health. They know about UNhealth and what to keep you from dying but other than that I don't find the majority of doctors care that much about people holistically. So you'd have to find someone knowledgeable and not expect every health professional to know everything. And maybe you don't really care and are happy taking an average prenatal tablet or just eating a healthy diet... That's cool too! I've just had a lot of health problems in the past so I wanted to fix myself as much as possible)

Im taking nature made plus DHA which is a great vitamin and comes highly recommended. My only issue with it is it doesnt contain iodine which helps our thyroid. So Ive just tried to push foods with higher iodine levels and am now even thinking of adding dried seaweed to my diet just to make sure im getting everything I need! Prenatals can make you nauseous, so I always take mine at night to help alleviate that!

You need a good prenatal vitamin with at least 1000 MG folic acid (I had to be additional folic acid) and DHA my OB has instructed to me.
