How do I prepare for induction?

Im being induced 2moro at 41 weeks and feel like I'm about to sit an exam I haven't studied for! Any tips on how to prepare or anything I should have with me? Plus can you eat beforehand? Have to be at the hospital for 8am.

When I was induced, it was NOT with pitocin. That medication causes hard labor and is stressful on the body. They gave me a half (or a quarter) of a small pill called cytotec (I hope that is spelled correctly) after about 4-6 hours, they gave me the other half (or quarter). It starts labor off naturally and slowly. In total I was in labor for 3 1/2 hours but it was an easy transition on my body. Within the hour I asked for an epidural and labor was a beautiful enjoyable experience afterward. I highly recommend asking your doctor about that medication.

just take some additional  entertainment it can feel like a very long process especially if they won't let you get up. I had to be at the hospital at 4am they told me I couldnt eat after 12am they would only give me ice chips. and after I had the baby at 5:01 the cafe was closed so you may Wang to bring some snacks until someone can get you something. other wise there is nothing extra to prep for.

They let me eat during labor.  So glad they did.  Although i did end up throwing up during the first part of hard labor and contractions. Not a big deal. I think i had a chicken qasadilla. Be prepared to sit and lay alot.  They wouldnt let me walk around, very annoying.  My butt hurt from sitting on it for 12 hours. Once they broke my water, thats when labor intensified.  So be ready, i was not.  It was instant carnage, i wanted drugs so fast because i was not prepared. Looking back now, i could have done it knowing labor wasnt going to last me much longer.  Good luck.

Take what you would have for a labor that wasn't induced only add things to do to pass the time if it does take long.

I was induced my last pregnancy. For some people labor happens quickly. For me it took about 3 days. I would definitely eat before you go because once you get there they give you ice chips until you deliver. I can tell you the contractions start off light but get real intense. They'll give you an IV once you arrive to sustain your fliuds and distribute pain meds for discomfort. Should you decide to get an epidural do so within the window they provide! What I enjoyed most about being induced is the nurses keep you informed and so you kind of know what to expect during each stage. What sucked was not being able to eat. Congratulations and God bless.
