When did you start preparing the nursery?

I'm just curious when everyone has started preparing their babies rooms I'm 21 weeks and plan to start having my husband paint and order our crib but I'm being told by my mother that I'm rushing it. I would appreciate some opinions on this

Personally I would rather do it early little by little. But we are actually moving our daughter out of the nursery into a big girl room then nursey has to be re done for our son. So I have to paint and organize two rooms. But if you get a head start you wont have to rush and just do a little on the weekends or when your bored. Plus its nice to see how much stuff you actually have and what you still need.

Anything that may off gas (VOC's) like carpet and paint should be done asap. Paint can take a while to harden and you don't want to chip your new paint job when moving furniture around. New carpet can take quite a while to give off all its chemical smells depending on the material.

Asap! I started with last pregnancy when we knew the sex. Plus if you're painting you want to make sure it has plenty of time to air out. I say do it when you're feeling good and have engergy! You won't want to when ypur in pain, feel awful and tired. I'm glad mine was done and all clothes were washed and put away early. I think I had everything done by 30 weeks. And I'm glad. I started to feel like crap and then my son came 5 weeks early and we were in the hospital for a month. So i was so glad everything was ready to go.

We ordered the crib/dresser/crib conversions at 16 weeks and it took ten weeks for everything to come in. When we got it we set everything up and have been organizing and getting other things set up. Had my baby shower yesterday at almost 32 weeks so not we will be finishing.  Hope to have everything done in the next two weeks

With my first, the army didn't give me time to prepare his room so it happened after. I literally had a car seat and pack n play that was it. With my  second, I had a crib and his room set up by 25-30wks, with my third, I had her room set up by 20wks and I'm pregnant again, depending on the sex of the baby will depend on which room he/she will be sleeping in and we'll have a crib and everything

Haha well im a planner just to start so people dont think I am completely insane.  We painted and put the crib together at 17 weeks. This is our 2nd. I did the same thing with my 1st born once we found out gender we started getting everything together at 20 weeks. Now at 29 weeks her room is pretty much done. I just started washing blankets and crib stuff today. :)

No reason why you can't start now. Especially with painting, so that it can air out. I started late at about 34 weeks lol. But I did have my crib and all my big essentials already. In a matter of 2 days we did touch up painting had carpet put in. My bf set up the crib and changing table, our organizers. I'm just waiting on this awesome dresser from costco that I ordered. I was able to start washing clothes and blankets and just started organizing everything. The sooner the better. It's alot of work without even realizing it.

You should def order the crib. Depending on manufacturing issues and whatnot sometimes they can take up to 12 weeks to come in. Plus if it comes in damaged you want time to return it and have then send another one.
