Where do you get your info from?

Luckily I had two family members with pregnancy books I stole from their bookshelves. I did not have to buy them....Thank God. Prior to reading them for medical advice, I lived on google. Before I ate anything suspicious....before I buy fish I checked the mercury levels....when I have symptoms I look for natural relief online. I think some womem on here rely on this app for far too important info from their peers instead of doing the research themselves. That's scary. Some info online is a bit skewed snd we need an experienced mother's opinion, but when it comes to the health of the baby and your diet....one should not depend on mere opinion. Ok im done. Sorry.

I was shocked when I found out so many women had no info. Every first time mom gets a pregnancy package here that includes 3 different but up to date (within a year) books, booklets on breast feeding, the numbers to nurses and heads of each department, nursing pad and 4 ounce bottle samples, a pocket bag (doubles as a small car diaper bag later), a whole pregnancy cook book on dietary needs and how to plan your meals, info on foods to avoid, and a booklet about gestational diabetes and pre eclampsia if you're at risk for it. My hospital hooks us up with everything!

PS the only posts that really bother me are the "am I pregnant" posts. If you've had sex, of course there's a chance lol. Go take a test like EVERYONE else from your doctor or the store. I can't tell you through the app if you are lol.

I've got three nurses in the family, a pregnancy book from the mayo clinic, a book of pregnancy from readers digest, the what to expect book, my doctor, and I look stuff up all the time on google lol. When on google, when I go to sites, I look at where the info comes from/the sources for the site/how old the info is. I've learned SO MUCH cross referencing everything. It's actually made me wonder if I might become the fourth nurse in the family soon :)

Well every woman is different and every woman has their opinion. I dont necessarily see the point in judging another woman for what they are doing with their body even if it sems reckless to the next person. But anyhoo i got my information from a combination of books, magazine,  Google, and experienced mothers. I took what sounded and felt right and applied it to my pregnancy. 40 weeks today and he is still healthy and doing well even after having 3 small glasses of wine over 3 months. Everything in moderation. Except you know like crack or meth? Even then, still not judging cuz its not my place Lol

I agree. Ask questions all you want here, but the best way is to speak with your OB first. What works for others might not work for you, though some things should just be common sense lol. I remember I found out I was 6 weeks pregnant and I stopped everything that the books told me: no coffee, no soda, ect. I spoke to my OB and she laughed and said I could have caffeine, but a small cup of coffee or a can a soda a day is all I could have. Too much caffeine she said isn't the best thing to do in 3rd trimester- cause after all, your baby takes what you eat and drink then. I still never drank anything with caffeine anyway, just because if u took a sip of soda it would make my baby kick and bounce from energy lol.
But anyway yes, always get drs opinion FIRST
