Prenatal Gunmies?

I noticed I've been taking prenatal gummies for more than a month that do not have iron in them? Is this dangerous to the baby? Should i get a extra supplement for iron right away?

I took gummys with my first 2 pregnancies because I couldn't keep the huge prenatals down. My doc recommended that I take an iron pill to but I'm always borderline anaemic. Just talk to your doc s/he knows best.

Yes they are for the baby as well, any thing you are lacking in your diet they are to supplement. ie folic acid.. Very important in the beginning

I never took prenatal vitamins with either of mine. I'm on baby 2. The reason is when I start them they make me sick no matter the brand or kind. I was worried my entire first pregnancy and she was fine and found out they were for me not her. So this time around I didn't worry. My son is also growing and healthy. I'm a vegetarian so I get lots of vitamins in my food I eat. I have to eat dark green leafy veggies for my iron and I eat a lot of other fruits and veggies plus the vegetarian burgurs.

Prenatal vitamins are for the mother not the baby... You don't always have to have iron during pregnancy sometimes you produce enough on your own but that would be something you would wanna check with your doctor... And also most people that I know that take the gummies usually take more than one a day because they lack less than the pills but I know everyone can't take pills...

Ooh ok thank you. I always wondered how reliable the gummies were! They were "easier" than a big pill....but maybe not the besy for the baby!

It's not a problem if you're not anemic, but talk to your doc at your next appointment.

Also, my doc told me that gummies aren't the best pre natals to take, they can get stuck in your teeth and usually don't have as many vitamins in them as others.
