i failed 1 hour but when they did 3 hour i passed all 4 blood draws. my midwife said that i am more one of the people that should eat something every few hours cuz my fasting one was normal my 1st hour was normal my 2nd hour was normal and the 3rd hour was only 52. ur BS shouldn't go below 65.
I am now on a strict diet and checky blood sugar 6 times a day. I have lost a few lbs since this has started. Oh and I also have to check my pee every morning for keytones
If you can control it by diet the most I had to do was prick my finger and test my BSL 4 times a day. Usually you will be refered to a dietician and also a diabetes specialist. If its not controlled by diet then you may have to have insulin shots, these are easy, painless and self administered. Once bub is born GD goes away, yet in saying that if you have diabetes during pregnancy it ups your chance a little of getting diabetes later in life. The possibility of having a bigger baby is true, but once again this will be monitored. Best thing to do either if you have it or you don't is to eat healthy, drink lots of water and exercise.
Good luck and don't stress what will be will be, and it's easily treated and monitored!
My biggest problem was giviing up my choclate milk! Seruously if you do have it its not a huge deal, just monitor your sugar levels and lay off the sweets
Most cases of gestational diabetes clear after delivery. So good news is not life long. The biggest problem I have is sticking to the diet. It can be overwhelming. The other thing my dr was very quick to point out was women with diabetes tend to have bigger babies. I hope you get good news.
