Violin here.. I go thru the same thing.. thank god I don't do concerts or have to perform. Just relax and listen to the music. It will come naturally. Don't think too hard on it or you will mess up. Happens to me a lot. It helps if I close my eyes. But then what I play the notes are already in my head. Good luck! Pick the horn up and play. You'll do fine
I had to cut back on flute and stick more to the violin in my first pregnancy. My breathing was just so poor compared to non pregnant lungs. I'd be out of breath and getting dizzy making it hard to read the music or understand it with the lack of oxygen getting to my brain. You may be having the start of this with playing the horn. As your doc says if you're struggling I'd ease off on playing until after baby arrives and you'll have all of your oxygen back to yourself. Best wishes x
Thanks you guys. Music is one of those things I love. I even met my husband in this band. The nextconcert will be in march. The worst part is the music is finally music I love to play....classical. its hard to give up, but I can think past an 8th note quickly and lord help me if its more than a standard run. My mind just isn't fast enough to think about the key signature as well as accidentals and fast phrases. I was afraid it was the lack of oxygen to the brain because I could sit there with my clarinet and finger the notes just fine. Just once my breath support started, I lost it and would mess up....royally..now to get hubbys support is stopping until after the baby. Wish me luck.
Its not easy stopping when you love it so much. You need to avoid depriving baby of oxygen which I'm sure your husband will understand. As your pregnancy progresses your baby will need more and you'll be deprived you'll probably end up fainting (like I managed once!) Its only temporary at least. Good luck x
