Also, it was at about 7 weeks we knew they were twins and my Dr. kept saying "monochorionic" he really wasn't clear even when I was asking questions. It took seeing my perinatalogist to get my questions answered. That was at week 11 and they saw a thin dividing membrane...took about 45 minutes to find it.

Tanjat- I was told at 14 weeks that it's girls, but he also said "don't paint the room pink just yet"...he was taking a quick look and told us he was just giving us a guess. Honestly,I was hoping for boys, but I think girls will be verified at my next appt.

Sorry, I was asking mommabanielle, but I just realized that she said 2 girls.   When is your next ultrasound?   From what I understand 2 yolk sacs usually indicates 2 amniotic sacs but not always.  They'll probably be able to see more clearly at your next ultrasound.

^ do you know if you're having boys or girls?   So far, we've been told boys at my 12 week ultrasound,  but I'm eager to get it confirmed. I'll be happy either way :)

Well, did your dr say monozygotic,  monochorionic or monoamniotic? ?  Mine only referred to them as monozygotic that early on, he didn't talk about chorionicity or amniotic sacs because I think he thought That I wouldn't understanding.   I just happen to know the difference and asked him the specifics.

I agree, Dr probably said monochorionic which is one placenta. That's what mine kept saying. Because I was unfamiliar with the terminology I also thought they were saying mono-mono.

I'm pretty sure that she was told same gestational sac and not necessarily talking about amniotic sacs.

I'm having identical twin girls. Two sacs, one placenta. Chances are you'll see a dividing membrane around week 11. One sac is so very rare. Make sure you find a perinatalogist, I don't think a regular ob alone is enough. Talk to your doctor to get a referral. The nice thing is, you'll get to see your babies a lot! I have ultrasounds three times a month. Once I hit the third trimester I'll be going every week, then after 26 weeks twice a  week. There is comfort in knowing you're being closely monitored. Let me know if you have any questions, I'd love help out. (I'm 15+3)

^^^Very important to know. Ask doc if they are monoamniotic or diamniotic.

Are you sure babies are in same sac?  Is there a membrane between them?  Very important to know?  Sometimes there can be 1 placenta with 2 sacs.
