Kind of freaking out about Zofran..

Hey ladies how many of you have used Zofran for your nausea during the first trimester? I used it twice and just read online that it can have very dangerous side effects for the baby.. what do you all think and what is your experience?

I was also given soft an for extreme nausea in my first trimester and 3 days into taking it saw the commercial about the side affects. I immediately flushed the pills and called my doctor, she understood my concerns and ended up giving me diclegis. This was better for me and had no side affects.

I took diclectin with my third due to being sick for about 35 of the 40 weeks but it offered little relief, I don't want to imagine what I would have been like had I not been taking it as I lost 60 lbs during that pregnancy.

Took it with my first pregnancy with twins 8 years ago before it was announced that it had negative affects on babies. Luckily my children are healthy but opted out this time I hate even taking Tylenol so I just suffer through if I can. I feel like they always say something is ok and then years later it's not!

I'm so sorry to hear you had such a hard time! Yeah I definitely am not that sick so I feel like I don't need to take it but I can totally understand why some women can't live without it

I took it with my first 2 kids and they are as healthy as can be. For me it the pros out weighed the cons with my second I was so sick my nose would bleed when I threw up so not only was I hungry and dehydrated I was also anaemic and had a 15 month old to care for. Zofran saved me from being hospitalized to treat for dehydration and anaemia.

Thank you for your answer! Yes I prefer the natural way as well but nothing seems to help.. I'm definitely not taking it again. The risk is too high.. and no have heard b6 helps! Gonna need to try that

Personally I opted out of it. I ended up switching doctors as well bc my first ob tried very hard to push it on me bc I was so sick. I prefer to stick to more natural methods as much as possible. The risk to me is not worth the reward.  I know a few women who have used it and had no issues and I also know a few women who have used it and their children were born w cleft lip/palate.  The biggest issue I faced not taking things like that was dehydration,  but I have also been dealing w hyperemesis since about 5 to 6 weeks in. Ultimately it is your choice. Noone here is going to judge you for taking it. But I do recommend asking your dr about diclegis. It's b6 and doxylamine.  It's nausea med specially for pregnant women, whereas zofran was designed for nausea caused by cancer treatment and surgery if im remembering correctly.
