C section/natural birth

I'm almost 30 weeks and have been asked about my birth plan.
I'm terrified about being cut open, and having staples on my belly :( do those hurt? Really want to do a natural birth, but with an epidural-except I'm deathly afraid of needles. Do epidural's hurt at all? Is there other options that helped besides sticking a giant needle in your back?
I'm excited for my baby girl to get here..but I'm so scared thinking about how she's coming out :(

With my first i went in for natural birth not dilated at all but water broke at 41 and 4 days i went through 12 hours of regular and pitocin induced contractions and let me tell u pitocin is the worst thing ever invented at that point i couldnt handle it anymore so i got the epidural if u get it when ur having strong contractuons u dont feel it bc they do it during a contraction. The needle is way bigger than a dentistry needle i would know i worked in dentistry til i had my lo. my husband said like 6 inches he went ghost white and almost passed out bc he had to hold me my nurse was too short to support me while they did it but i didnt feel a thing. 5 hours later still no dilation and daughter not handling the labor well anymore i had to get a csection. 5 minutes to get her out 20 to put me back together. The staples i didnt feel either when they remove. Maybe a tiny pinch but the incision area is numb for awhile after u csection it always felt weird to touch like the nerves were asleep bc i couldnt feel me touching it unless i pushed on it. The csection as long as u take ur meds isnt too bad uncomfortable but not unbearable silly me i thought oh i dont need meds i feel fine then the epidural/spinal wore off and it took an hour for my pain meds too kick in that was the worst of it. Hope this helps

Definitely the worse part for me I hate it but as far as the actual surgery and healing process it isn't as bad as ppl make it out to be I take nothing but motrin when I come home  n I had my staples tooken out every time with no kinda meds it doesn't hurt at all...scheduled for my fourth n last next Thursday

Usually they ask what type of birth u want ie  a water birth and what pain relief you want. I had gas and air then had an epidural n ended up havin an emergency c section (after 6 days latent labour & 10 hrs 2nd stage) I was on diclofenics and paracetamol aftewards. Luckily I was up and about shoppin 4 days later. But each birth and recovery is totally different.  The main thing is to keep ur options open jus gotta remember whatever we mothers go thru labour wise we end up with a beautiful baby afterwards and u forget the intensity of labour good luck hun whatever u decide xx

The staples from a csection are really the easiest part.  I didn't even know I had any until they went to take them out.  After my csection I had only taken Tylenol and the nurses told me I was being stupid for not taking any of the "real" meds but I didn't need them I was fine...but when they came to take out the staples I said I wanted the real meds first, lol.  The actually told me know, by that time I was a source of pride for them, an example.  But I didn't even feel them being taken out, except for maybe one and it felt like a pluck of a hair.  So dont worry about those.  The worst part is prolly the needle in your back before surgery, doesn't hurt but a lot of pressure.  Make sure to tell them where you feel the pressure and if it is getting too intense.  You want to make sure they get the medicine all over.

In UK u can have gas n air or pethidine,  when I had my son they offered me pethidine and didn't even mention an epidural! I don't like em either they freak me out! But then I know a few ladies that have done it all completely natural

I haven't had a c section. So I can'r relate there as for the epidural, I think it scarier then it really is. The needle in ur back probably isn't any bigger the what a dentist will use in ur mouth to numb u for oral surgery (that's a pretty scary needle) so just stay still like they ask and in a few minutes u will be comfy and cozy at least until actual delivery! C sections are not optional so if u need to get one then ththat's what will be best for baby. Good luck sweetie u will be fine. You could always go natural, but I don't think I will not with meds right there.. imma wimp I suppose.
