cats and pregnancy

Hey ladies!  I'm just wondering can I really not clean litter boxes, at all? My fiancé does it but not as well as I do and they Still stink, so I'm still smelling/breathing in the stench.  Would it matter if I dumped them out and held my breath, I can't take the stink it's driving me nuts! And he will be at work all day tomorrow,  I can't smell them all day long.  Any help appreciated!

Mask and gloves. Gloves are the most important.  And wash your hands afterwards. I have changed my cats box since day 1 without any problems.

Wear a mask and gloves. Change your clothes after. Make sure not to touch any of the litter. Just be careful and you should be fine. My midwife said I could get a blood test to see if it was already in your body. I turned it down so my husband would be forced to clean ours:)

I have a cat & I am the same way I love my husband but he never gets the litter box clean enough & I can still smell it which drives me crazy. What I do is I have a hospital mask that I bought at the store that I wear the whole time & I always make sure I clean it in a well vented area. I talked toy dr. & said I should be fine as long as keep the mask on & it be well ventilated,  & he recommends I only do it like twice a week just on the safe side.  I hope this helps.

The problem is touching feces that are more than three days old and then putting your fingers in your mouth, it has nothing to do with breathing the smell of the urine.  The oocytes from toxoplasmosis are not dangerous in the first two days after the cat passes the stool.  Also, the cat actually has to have this illness at the time, if your cats are not sick, there is no danger in emptying a cat box.  Empty away, and wash your hands really well.

My doc said if I must do it wear a cheap medical mask and gloves.  alot of litter has alot of dust that comes back up when cleaning.  Its a good precaution to take if you must do it.  If I were you I would let him do it while he is willing!
