checked for dilation yourself?

How many of you have done this? How do you know if you're right? I looked on YouTube and just checked my.own cervix. I felt the head and then found a home and seemed.like I could fit almost 4 fingers in.

Ok. About 6 pm tonight I was sItting down and couldn't get comfortable for anything and my back was constantly hurting. So about an hour and a half ago I took a shower. It's now 11 pm and still hurting.

Each finger is considered a cm when checking for dilation. I've never checked myself but have thought about it but I did ask my doctor what it meant when they say its so many fingers abd was told each finger is a cm so you would be about 4cm.

If it helps 7cm is about equivalent to the bottom of a 12 oz jar of mayonnaise

I hope so. I've been having .bh contractions since march and over past few days they've become more frequent and stronger. Just not close or strong enough yet. They're like 15 min apart.

I've heard if women doing it so I wasn't nervous. I'll be 38 weeks tomorrow so just curious. What does almost 4 fingers mean? My cervix has already been low and soft for a while.

Thank you mamamac. I used a glove. I wouldn't do it without a glove unless I was in the shower. But Idk if I'm accurate or not and if I am what does 3-4 fingers mean?

If you wash your hands well & don't claw around in there, you shouldn't have to worry about giving yourself an infection-I would be more worried about accuracy.

I would be very careful doing this. I have heard of women getting scratches and infections trying to do it themselves when they don't know what they are doing. I would personally never try.
