My husband had a cleft lip and palate that ended up sealing itself before he was born. So far we have 2 healthy boys with no cleft problems.

It is a gentic condition that can be passed on. I have 3 boy's and pregnant with #4 and none of mine have been born with the condition. Their dad is the one who was born with the condition though. Good luck and best wishes

Honestly, it can pass on to this child just based off of genetics. However its not the end of the world. There are doctors who will do the surgery before the baby turns 6 months. Have cleft palette doesn't mean your baby won't be healthy it just needs help developing its mouth and as a mother you still will love your baby regardless.
