I would request that they do it every visit and if they continue to refuse u can request a change of doc. I'm 39w3d and my doc has checked the hb at every visit since 11w

I heard my baby first at 14weeks 4days.. my midwife still does it at every visit. Maybe you should be a bit more demanding about it.. After all its ur peace of mind and babys health here.

I did with both mine this is my 3 rd child I'm only 9 week tommorow Soo know it be too early for them to check but she has said they stopped doing it all together as apparently on short time they listen to it, it dont tell them anything reasoning behind it that it doesn't show it baby oxygen level drop only baby movement movement can tell them that apparently. Really disappointed as that the bit I loved magical moment

I have also had my baby's heart beat checked at EVERY single appt. It takes 2 seconds, maybe you could request that they still do it for you to put your mind at ease throughout the pregnancy? - Happy mummy, happy bubby.

Yummy,  why have they decided it isn't an indication that the baby is healthy?  It's the best indication you can do,  quickly,  and non invasively.  It's how you know the baby is growing and the placenta is keeping up with the baby's oxygen needs.

I wonder how long a woman would carry a baby who has passed away in utero before she finds out if they don't check heartbeats - and how many near term babies will be harmed because their heartbeat is slowing (an indication that the baby isn't getting enough oxygen) when action needs to be taken.  At 35 weeks,  a baby with a heartbeat below about 110 consistently can be saved through delivery and the outcome could be perfect - but without knowing that heart rate,  the baby is likely to die or be severely impaired.

I can't imagine stopping that practice.  It's not like it's too costly or dangerous.

Yes I know that certain parts of the UK have stopped it as they said it's not a indication that baby is healthy.

Im with Melissa. Ive never heard of them not checking. My dr this time even started earlier than im used to. If you are still early, maybe thats why?

I would be confused by that too. My OB measures me and checks the fetal heartbeat every visit. And if she can't find it, then sends me over to u/s immediately. I feel that is such an important part of the appointment.
