I've dyed mine twice and I plan to dye it once more before he's born. Just do it in a well ventilated area

With my first pregnancy, I was in cosmetology school. I used hair color and perm solution daily. I colored my hair a lot too. I personally just wait until after the first trimester to do to myself. I also think avoiding bleach right on your scalp is a good idea.

The only reason you shouldn't dye your hair during pregnancy is from the fumes... I wjust asked my Dr this do it outside or in a well ventilated room... And your hormones cannot play a part in the color the dye turns....  Your hair is technically dead cells and store bought dye expires which causes discoloration and if your hair was bleached blonde the color is also not guaranteed due to the bleach.... On top of that kids go around Wal-Mart and other stores and switches dyes.... If I ever have to use a box dye I ALWAYS check if the numbers match on all the tubes ... I've had a bad experience.... Blonde to brown that turns green is common with bleach especially with cheap dyes or if you dye your hair too close to eachother

I'm a rn I know its false that hormones can play a role that's hilarious you think its true. Maybe she is a hairstylist?? But if she really believes that then def she is obviously not in then ob field...

Hormones can change the outcome. Every pregnant woman's experience will not be the same which is why a strand test should be done.

My sister is a professional and yes the hormones do play a role in how the color turns out. You can dye your hair just make sure there is proper ventilation.

I agree with bearhuntermomma.. Going from blonde to brown is something a professional should do. Store bought dyes are not good for your hair anyway much less going such a drastic change. It takes more of a process, that's nothing to do with hormones..

And how do you think pregnant hairstylists work? Its safe as long as you are using it properly. And as long as you are using professional color. I just wouldn't recommend changing colors every other week

Hormones def don't mess w dye that's silly. It's actually common for blondes to dye their hair and it turn green bc Of the 'pigment' not hormones lol. I don't know who told you that but they're soooo wrong.

Someone on here said she dyed her hair yesterday and it went from blonde to green (was suppose to be brown)

Sometimes your hormones can mess with hair dye!

I've never been told its bad. I've done it w all three pregnancies and they're fine. Obviously the common sense factor is ventilation. I go to a salon during  pregnancy bc they use less harsh stuff. Even my doctor said its perfectly safe. So dont let other people scare you. Its not like your having a glass of wine or cleaning your floor w bleach.

I've done it several times. I have 4 children and one on the way. If you want to dye your hair make sure you are able to be in a well ventilated area, outside works great because of all the fresh air (if possible) but if it's raining or something sit in a room with the windows open a lil bit.

Back in the day when hair dye was a little more toxic it was suggested not to do it... however, just make sure you open a window and air the fumes out some and you're fine.  My dr said it's really not a concern.  You can even call salons and just tell them you are pregnant and wondering about dying your hair... they can assure you it is very common and safe, especially once you enter into the 2nd trimester.   :)

I was also told not to dye my hair during pregnancy so I haven't. But I think the concern is about you breathing in the chemicals and fumes rather then the actual dye on your scalp. I would do some research and/or ask your dr. I can totally understand the wanting a change tho!
