With my first baby I lost 8lbs right away and didn't reallygain any until the end of my pregnancy. I was also about 15 lbs or so over my "ideal" weight. With this baby now I've lost 6 lbs and still haven't gained any and I'm 19 weeks today. It's not because I'm so sick and can't eat, in fact I eat all the time. I should mention baby #1 was a healthy 8lbs 12 oz and 21 in and 2 days late lol
As long as baby is growing my doctor said I was just fine..
I feel ya about the weight. I actually didnt gain a lb till about 18 weeks and now Im 27 and have gained 16. Im not obsessed with the scale as they are not allowed in my house bc I dont want to become obsessed but Im not happy about my chunky face or huge stomach. Mainly my face though, double chins arent cute on me lol that would be an interesting barbie though, double chin barbie lol just a thought
Barbie dolls are weird about that. Now I love President barbie & the one in the wheel chair. Don't get me wrong. But, pregnant barbie? And the one with the "tramp stamp" tattoo?! Really?
Yeah....stupid barbies! Could we please get a chunky one made?! Or a short one, besides Skipper?!
Weight is all relative. Not one person is a text book and not every baby is the same size. The placenta can be smaller or huge! So there really shouldn't be much concern unless someone gains 20 lbs in a month. Or maybe loses too much in the beginning like MrsTeddy. Then docs get concerned, not so much for the baby, but for mama. One of my friends says she's just the host forher little parasite.....but losing too much can make you weak and thats no good.
I am not so concerned with the number as long as I am healthy. My doctor is actually worried right now because I lost 6lbs in a month. I have really bad morning sickness and I haven't been able to keep much down.
It's more than likely to be water weight at the beginning anyway. ;) Water and unfortunately gas. As to why we're obsessed with weight...I blame Barbie dolls.
