flu shot

Ive never gotten a flu shot, and dont necessarily believe in it.
Of course my hubbys mom is a nurse and brings plenty down for everyone,
I hear how unsmart it is, of course.
Lets say Ive taken the road less traveled with the faith of good health in my future.
So at my last visit, my Dr was pushing the flu shot on me.
Even after I told him no, and questioned the safety of it while im pregnant.
I would like to know what your take on this is.

So it's like everyone has said up there, it really just depends on your beliefs and how you feel about vaccines and such.. but honestly, as a healthcare professional myself, it drives me nuts reading stuff about how people got sick from the shot. It is literally IMPOSSIBLE to get the flu from the flu shot. It is a DEAD virus. However, you can have a reaction to the actual injection and sometimes that will cause flu like symptoms but it is not the flu! Okay, so done with that rant.
I honestly do not get the flu shot myself when I'm not working because I dislike shots. I have a great immune system and hardly ever get sick. That being said, I always get it for my child. I chose to get the flu shot for myself during this pregnancy because like children and elderly people, when you are pregnant, your immune system is not working to its fullest. It is incredibly rare for someone to have a reaction to the shot like aimee (sounds like you're allergic by the way) and they've proven it has absolutely no bad side effects on the baby. The way I look at it is like this - the flu is projected to be incredibly bad this year.. there will probably be multiple deaths. Why would you NOT get it knowing that? I would much rather get the shot and possibly have not ever gotten sick, than not get it and something bad happen knowing that I could have maybe prevented that.
Anyway, that's just my opinion. Good luck!

I have never had the flu. The 2 times I did get the shot was both pregnancies. My hubby is in the medical field & believes strongly in it. 2 prevent a debate I got one, but on my own would not have.

I wasn't going to get the flu shot. They asked if I wanted it... I said NOPE... the next day I was sick and thought... I should have gotten that stupid shot. My next visit they asked again and said it'd also help protect the baby... I weny ahead and got it, because why not give extra protection to your baby, and I figured with my luck, I'd get sick again. Lol. I also got the whooping cough vaccine... be prepared for a sore arm with that one.

Personally, we do not get the flu shot. I have 2 kids and since they have rarely been sick since birth I don't feel like it's necessary. I know plenty of people who get them and wind up sick off and on afterward for the whole cold/flu season so I figured for us why risk it. We are healthy and take our vitamin C immunity supplement and that's it while school is in session.

I think it just depends on you and your beliefs. So many people have different views on this topic but for me personally I went ahead and got the flu shot this year and it was my first time ever. I had began getting my son a flu shot every year since about 4yrs ago after he'd gotten a really bad cold with flu like symptoms and I had the flu once as a child and it was no walk in the park lol. But after getting it done for my son and seeing that it had not affect on him, not even making him sick with the flu, I decided to go ahead and get mine this year to prevent me from getting sick during this pregnancy because I hear it can be even worst for pregnant woman. My Dr also has informed me that vaccinations don't have any affect on your unborn .. so idk but I have been fine so far

Oops! I was working with all my students who all had runny noses and fever and cough sneezing all over me... Then my friends got the flu and ny husband got it... I was literally drinking orange juice like nobodies business and eating as clean as I possibly could to keep my liver and other organs in good shape to boost my immune system.  It helped!

So my thoughts... Flu shot= not necessary.

I don't do the flu shot.  It actually *makes* me sick.  I had to get it when I worked at a hospital... Because it's a requirement for employment... But I ended up getting the flu that year right after the shot.  Stupid.  Anyway... I think that if you keep up with your antioxidants and vitamin c you should be better off.  I was worried for a while during my pregnancy bc like you said everyone pushes the flu shot on you... My midwife never told me to get it... It was
