No pain meds allowed for me during labour..please help!

38 weeks 2 days today and ftm. I got a call from the doctors office that my platelet counts are low. Due to which i may not be allowed to get epidural during labour. I was not at all mentally prepared for this.

I will be meeting a specialist on thursday. But freaking out right now. The last trimester has been full of challenges for me.

It will be great if anyone could give some advice/tips about labour without pain medications.

I will be meeting a haematologist(blood disorder specialist) on thursday and get to know what would be allowed. But laughing gas would be there as an option my hospital has confirmed.

There has been too many challenges mentally and physically in the last 9 months. All i just want is to be done with everything..all my pain..and hold my baby in my arms.  :(

Are you allowed laughing gas? What about a tranquilizer? The sterile water injections? There are other options than just the epidural

Thank you so much ladies for the tips.. i really really hope everything goes as smoothely as u guys described.. :)

My baby is on the smaller side (7 lbs approx by 39th week). Initially i was worried. But now it seems like God had his plans. So pushing a small baby would be little easier as i am only 5ft 1!!

I gave birth with no meds whatsoever and it honestly was not as horrible as everyone told me it wud be.i remained at home until my contractions were like 5mins apart cus i felt much more comfortable battling the contraction pain in my bed.( i live only a few mins awy from the hospital) wen it was time to have him, just remember to breathe.breathe n push tru da contractions. Ur body lets u know when its time to push.u feel everything but its not a scary feeling.altho hard to do,try n stay calm n just do ur breathing techniques and think of your baby! Its totally worth it! N u feel great afterwards

Stay hydrated.  It really does help and also don't be afraid to change positions.  I had back labor so laying on my back was excruciating.  Finally I was able to get off it and it relieved so much pain.  Then of course focus on the end result.  Holding your baby.  That has always helped me.  Knowing what your doing is a miracle and focus on it.  I have had three and none with pain meds. Good luck.

I just made sure to breath and I closed my eyes and thought about my baby. I made sure I pushed during contractions because that really allowed the pain to be manageable.
