Question???

I am 38 wks, lost the mucus plug, am dilated to 2, and my OB says I'll go into labor any day now. The same day I lost my mucus plug, my ENTIRE belly got hard as a rock, with no pain. It will stay that way for quite a while (longer than 5 min), then loosen up. Then it will get hard as a rock again, with no pain or discomfort. Changing positions and drinking water doesn't effect the hardness. Just wondering if anyone has an idea of what this is. I have not experienced this before, and am curious if this is a sign that labor is around the corner.

Could be braxton hicks which are practice contractions. From what you described with belly tightening with no pain. Some ladies experience pain with these or are just uncomfortable but mostly they are pain free. Ive experienced both. I would say its a sign your body is preparing x
