help! vbac

Ok so im about to be 34wks and my doctor wants me to have another c-section. I keep asking what the risks are but he just says that he doesn't do vbac's and that i risk rupturing and that i dont want to have regrets later on. But I feel like he's not even giving me a choice or any actual information. This is baby #3 for me i was induced with my first because of really high blood pressure but was able to have him with no added complications at 38wks. With my secound my water broke at 38w5d and I ended up getting an emergancy c-section because my baby's heart beat kept dropping but other then that my pregnancy was healthy and normal. And this time around i was hopping to have my baby vaginaly but it seems imposible because Of my doc :/ idk wat to do anymore. Any advice?

Absolutely get a second opinion.  I'm trying for a vbac just 12/13 months after a c section. The recommended time frame is 18 to 24m.  Unless you were cut vertically there should be very little reason you couldn't at least try.  You can go to vbacfacts.com for more info. Or see if there is an ICAN chapter in your area. They provide vbac support.

I think the ladies are right as far as what I've been told... I had a section 3 years ago next month and was told my Drs don't personally do vbac (they lost a patient during a vbac years ago and personally felt like it was too dangerous) I was told they could hook me up with a Dr that does it because its just a part of they're policy more than anything now but for medical reasons I'll be having another section in august... it seems like you Dr may have a policy like mine

I had my first 7 yrs ago c-section.  I wanted to try vbac with this one and was told I could IF the hospital allowed it. My hospital, and the surrounding ones, can not do vbac by law. I would have to travel an hour to Boston of Providence for vbac, and change Dr's.  So your dr may be bound by law to not be able to do vbac. Good luck

Just have to put in here that it's not true that you're body needs more than 2 years to heal internally.  Usually after 1 year (at least) you're able to have a vbac safely. Some have even had it sooner. But I think 2 years is pretty good. It's the same gap in between my c section and vbac this time. And I was suggested doing a vbac... Since its totally safe to try now! :) all the best♡you can do it!

Most hospitals and doctors don't do them thats why i asked when picking my doctor if he did them even though I'll be having another csection this time because im tying my tubes. My 1st c section was 7 years ago so i would have been able to have a vbac. Two years is a short time though and you do risk chance of rupturing and causing harm to you and baby.

I was told after my c-section that its pretty safe to try for a vbac when you have two yr. in between but who knows

So that might be it that it's to soon for you to even have a vbac since your c section was a little over two yrs ago your body needs way more than that to heal internaly

When was your last c section? I had my first vbac & second c section 5 years ago so this time my doc told me i had the option to pic vbac or c section. Talk to your doc about it once more & tell him if you are not in any real high risk you would like vbac.

Yeah i think im going to get a second opinion because my doc just doesnt want to hear it at all and its a bit fustrating since he "just doesn't do vbac's" but is it to late to switch doc.?

It depends on what type of c section you had cuz I had one but my doc said based off of the one I had I can go for a vbac. Unless its a medical emergency or you had more than one c section you should be able to go for a vbac if I were you I'd get a second opinion cuz some doctors be trying to push for a c section when its not even necessary
