hepatitis b shot

How many of you will get your baby vaccinated with hepatitis b shot when born in the hospital and why or why not? ! My pediatrician said that's what they do, I'm a ftm and want to see what people think. Thank you; )

Thanks ladies for the advice/opinions. It's always a tough decision being a ftm trying to figure out what to do. To each their own what decide to do, but i do definitely believe in getting my baby vaccinated just a matter of when I am a little cautious on!  Congrats to all you mommas too! :)

^I have always wondered what they were trying to prevent with the eye drops! I dont think I am going to get them either
I am not doing the hep b shot either. I do get my children vaccinated but I never let them do more than one shot at a time. I know I dont have the hep b. As I work in the healthcare field and I have myself been vaccinated and tested.

I never stated i was against it or gave any false information i just said i chose not to give it to my baby as soon as she was born...and stated that it contains formaldehyde a cancer-causing substance which is also a fact. If i would have said i didn't give it to my baby and don't plan to bc "formaldehyde causes cancer" then i could understand you trying to justify yourself through my comment.

I'm waiting on the hep b since its a blood borne / fluid borne / sexually transmitted disease, and I'm clean. I'd rather wait until my kid is more developed before giving vaccines, especially if she's not going to catch anything anytime soon. Also not doing the antibiotic drops since I'm std free and they just prevent std exposed infections in the baby.

Don't believe everything everyone tells you on these sites!! We're just mom's, not doctors or vaccine makers;)

Formaldehyde is used in some vaccines to inactivate the virus so it doesn't cause disease and other bacterial toxins. Most of the formaldehyde is diluted anyway, any present amount left isn't anymore than what our body produces naturally. Yes, our body produces small amounts of formaldehyde. There is also nothing proven that says "formaldehyde in vaccines causes cancer" my son has always been vaccinated,I see it as the smart thing to do. In all honesty if you have any questions about anything, talk to your doctor or pediatrician. I also just figured give it to him now so he doesn't have to do it later.

I chose not to get the hep b vaccine when my child was born bc its not a childhood disease its trasmitted through either the mother having it and giving birth or sex. It also has formaldehyde in the shot which is a humam carcinogen  (cancer-causing substance).

I figured since hep b is passed through blood and body fluids, and I don't have hep b, he could wait.  He wasn't going to catch it from someone touching him or coughing on him. We don't have dirty needles in our parks (it would have been different if we lived in the city!). I feel strongly that his immune system needs time to develop, so I didn't want to put a shot in before he had much breast milk. I wasn't worried about him getting hep b or anything like that, obviously, but I just wanted him to only have breast milk for a little while. I vaccinated for everything else except rota virus (he doesn't go to daycare and it's usually not serious) and chicken pox (if he hadn't had it when he turned 12, I'd get it--he just had it so we're good).

My son got the shot, I'm going to get him vaccinated for everything.  If we don't vaccinate our kids that's how diseases like measles makes a come back when it shouldn't.

I'm a ftm and I had them do after my daughter was born. Babies are unable to fend for themselves so I wanted to get her protected as soon as possible
