sweets and gd

So I thought I'd share cause I thought maybe this will help someone. I have had horrible sweets cravings since my second trimester. I found out at 32 weeks I had gd. So it has been hard finding sweets that I can eat on the diet that dont screw my blood sugar. Things I've found that work great: chocolate and vanilla muscle milks, kettle corn made by healthy pop, carb smart ice cream bars, sugar free jello,  for drinks I found the mio mixers for water work well and diet sodas taste gross to me so I found that the 10 calorie sodas that dr. Pepper company makes are low carb. I got some 10 calorie gingerale its got 2 carbs. Taste a step up from diet. I drink one a day from time to time. And they have these zero calorie vitamin waters that are good and super low carb to. Thought I'd share cause its been a journey struggling with cravings. What have you found on the gs d diet that's made things more tolerable?

Oh and I forgot to share this to. If you have lazy days like me where you just can't bring yourself to dirty up a dish and cook something I stock up on these atkins frozen meals. Super low carb and high in protien. Never mess with my bs. They are expensive but taste really good surprisingly. And @ mama I would take walks but most days I have to many contractions. I have had a lot of false labor that has sent me to l&d since 34 weeks. They are painful so I try to rest but on good days I go for long walks with my dog that helps. Taking it easy most of the time makes me feel lazy though.

Oh im out in California.  Oh man ... *****! I had to watch my diet with my last pregnancy so i ate protein every time i put something in my mouth.  And freakin danced a little salsa after i ate! Lol!! Im a lover of milk and chocolate chip cookies .... so i ate less sweets since i ate them right after i had some type of protein first & by doing that i never had a high glucose result and i lost weight not baby. After my birth weight was gone i actually weighed 15lbs lighter than b4 i got pregnant.

Luckys the supermarket. Not sure if your city might have one....but its a big supermarket chain out here with their own bakery.  They make in store dessert and foods with their brands. I didnt really find much at walmart but some chocolate chip cookies that come in a white and blue package, sugar free and taste almost as good as chips ahoy. :0)

Yea I agree with that. If I keep denying myself I eend up losing control and going overboard with something. I try really hard not to but it happens if I dont indulge once in awhile.

My diabetes specialist also recommended that if you crave something full of sugar, then go and have some as the craving hits. It's easier to control your portion size at the start of a craving than it is to deny the craving and pig out when you finally do give in... And let's be honest, the craving usually wins. So a little bit of a bad thing is better than a whole packet.... Doing this I have found it pretty easy to keep my cravings and diet under control!!
