My son was born at the end of Jan thus year. We had him in a pamper with a blanket if we were going somewhere it we had people over he would have clothes on. There isn't anything wrong with it, if your baby is comfortable in just her pamper at home then for for it. My son does not like wearing clothes now, he's 11 months, and he fights us when we put clothes on him. Good luck momma: -)
Thanks ladies I was just surprised at how shocked she was... seems so dependent on the baby whether they sleep hot, if your home is warm (we have a small duplex with a shared wall doesn't take much to heat ) etc etc. I obvs am not going to let her freeze!! She just kept saying there's no way she meant that a baby needs clothes... I guess everyone has their hang ups! Oh MIL's!
I live in South FL and it's warm all year round, even at night except during Dec-Feb where occasionally it gets slightly chilly enough to wear a light sweater. My baby is due in Feb and by Mar it warms up again. So I plan keeping baby in a short sleeved onesie during the day and a long sleeved thin material romper that covers his feet at night, or maybe just keep him in sleep sac. He probably won't be using a blanket or nothing to stay warm cuz he'll be with me at night. I think it depends on where u live, but def keep baby in a onesie or romper at the very least.
I've always dressed my kids in a onesie and a light sleeper with socks also their body is used to warm conditons so exposing them suddenly would be hard on them going from heat to light cool breeze or air...I never had them uncovered to prevent any sicknesses since their immune system is so weak but that's just me=)
If your house is nice an warm them a diaper shirt an receiving blanket should do. That's usually what i had my daughter in.
I dressed my daughter in two layers (onsie and light sleeper) and a swaddle blanket in the beginning (she was born in November) and she would get sweaty. She has always ran hot like my husband. Even now at 2 years old she rarely wears socks and sleeps with her feet uncovered. She would have probably done just fine in a diaper and blanket, which I did have her in occasionally. It might just depend on your baby. I could tell my daughter was too hot when I kissed her head and felt a little dampness. :) That's when I'd start to strip her down. I'm sure you'll dress your baby just fine, don't worry!
Yes, if your house will be warm in January than at least a onesie. You do not want to constantly have baby's chest exposed to air in the winter (even inside the house) because they need to build up their immune system & can get congested easily. My baby will also have on socks & a hat for the first couple of weeks.
I wouldn't say always but indeed keep the baby warm..of course. ..maybe a light shirt n socks n. Agree skin to skin very important.
