I lucked out and went to a place with more advanced machines so I didnt need a full bladder at all, in fact when the technician was doing the ultrasound she looked at my bladder and said oh wow you look like you need to pee and sent me to the bathroom. Much different from when i had my first baby 8 years ago.

Strange! Ive had a vaginal us at 7 weeks, abdominal at 10 and 12 and have never been told anything about fluid consumption before.  They've always seen everything just fine and I always pee in the office just before my appointment!

Heck every time I go they make me pee in a cup first. Never had an issue with my ultrasounds. Weird.

With my first 2 pregnancies they never mass me but on my last 4 pregnancies it says it on the paper we have to drink 24 to 32 oz and we must finish it an hr before the sono AND we can't use the restroom. I think it's nonsense! All the technology today and you can't fix that?! haha I have some friends that don't have to do it!

My first u\s I drank the 32oz and my bladder wasn't full enough so the tech told me to empty it and did an internal one. After that no more need to drink yay!

I got told 2-3 glasses after the first ultrasound. My partner took me in for my first ultrasound and decided to go the route where he could hit the most speed bumps possible. I swear it was one of the hardest things to do, not peeing my pants on the way. They want a full bladder on the earlier ultrasounds as it presses on your uterus and makes it easier for them to see things, but from 12 weeks on I don't think it's an issue as bubs is big enough to see clearly. :)

With my daughter I had my Dr appt before my ultrasound... So I had to pee in a cup and then drink as much water as I could on my way to ultrasound!

My mom said she had to drink water with every ultra sound she ever had, so i was suprised that i never had to and just figured technology is way more advanced than it was. But i see its actually alot more common to drink water before one still

The first one I was so stressed about not having a full enough bladder and there was no.way I could hold it ant longer. I thought I would explode. So I said eff it! I'm going. I drank a tiny bit more water after that, went for the US and they were like "whoa , that's a full bladder." 2nd one I didn't drink as much, peed like 4x before the US and had to have the tech stop 1/2 way through so I could empty. She agreed my bladder was way too full, so she let me. So don't worry if you have to go before. I have another tomorrow and won't be drinking quite as much. last two times were just too much.
