Today was my first day back after the allowed six weeks and I will admit I cried multiple times last night and this morning before I clocked in at work. It was so hard leaving my little girl. I dont feel 6 weeks is enough but it was nice for a little break. I still would of preferred to be home with her

It wasn't enough time at all... I never really wanted to go back at all & I liked my job. My job was flexible though, so I was able to stay home for 3 months total... Still not near as much as I wanted.

With my first I was very excited to go back to work after 6weeks. Maybe because he was colic and staying cooped up in the house all the time drove me insane so I was happy to be able to go back to work and get away from the house!

Nope it's not enough time. Not even close. That's why every other industrialized nation in the world gives paid maternity leave to their new mothers, up to two years in some places. The United States is totally backwards. But it's something we have to deal with, living here. I'm very thankful I have an employer who offers benefits that allow for more time (and paid time at that) but so many people aren't so lucky. I wasn't that lucky with my first, but have a much better job now that I have my degree :-) It shouldn't be an employer's job, though. A country should realize that its people are its strongest asset and that strong families are the basis of a strong nation. But apparently it's more important to give subsidies to oil companies instead of citizens.

Everyone feels different. I have had friends go back to work before the 6 weeks and I have had friends take the entire 12 weeks with FMLA off and still feel like it wasn't enough.
