measured big.

So today my ob told me i was measuring 40 and im about to be 37 weeks.
Im freaking out :/
I really dont want to have a giant baby, im scared of vaginal birth as it is andso i was wondering how accurate measuring is? Is it a guarantee that ill have a big baby?

My mother in law 33 years ago with my husband never had an ultrasound everything was measured by tape measure. Doctor told her by measuring that he weighed ab 7.12 lbs well he came out weighing 7.10 lol but he,was prly just  really good at it. And even though your measuring a bit big didn't mean baby will be huge :-) may end up 8lbs you never know a 'big' baby is considered 9.14 and up lol my first was 8.6.

I've been measuring big too.I told the dr i was big when i was born (almost 10 lbs) and she said oh he wont be near that, so hopefully we're both good. Could be his position or fluid too.

I went for my 35+4 growth scan and they told me the baby measures full term weighing 6.5lbs already. I have heard people on here tell me its only and estimate but I have 25 days til my csection. In the last weeks they say your baby gains almost a pound a week. I'm not looking forward to carrying a 10 pound baby

Hi I'm on baby number 4 and not to put you off but they were big but mainly due to being overdue. This time round I'm in the same boat as you. Told I am measuring bigger than my dates so I have a growth scan today. Will update you on the situation

No it's more like an estimate. And everyone carries different.  I wouldn't be too concerned unless the doctor thinks there's a problem.
