I would stick it out if it means that much to him. Russell was the middle name of the first born son in my husbands family for 5 green and he wanted to keep it.. Which Russell is a fine name but our last name is ford andpeople have tried to call our son rusty.... Yea.. But it meant to much to my husband and the child is half his so he got the family name. And now that he's  almost 4 we call him Russ more then his first name lol

Well middle names get called when they are in trouble and I think I'd bust out laughing if I am being stern while saying gabriel Walter.  I also like noah so he said noah walter.

I  personally love the name Gabriel. I'm thinking about using that name for my son as well.  If ur husband wants Walter, I say use it as the middle name.  I mean, who ever calls the child by their middle name anyway?  So if you go with Gabriel Walter, then it's a win win for u and ur hubby.

This is the tricky thing about naming babies... you're essentially naming them as an adult. Which makes it even harder to name them! It makes me so tired!!!!! Lol Hopefully you agree on a name soon :)

Is Walter a family name somewhere? I know my husband has named both our sons after family names that are "old" names. I didn't like them at first but agree with them knowing the roots and I agree with family names.

What about Gabriel Walter? I love having the super traditional names mixed in, too, but you're right about Walter. It is pretty last century.
