Anyone else planning on or already have a natural birth? I really want to but I'm so scared about all the pain!

I'm having a natural birth.  You have to prepare,  take natural birthing classes, read books and stay active. An exercise ball, tub or shower, squatting and walking around will help during labor. Not all women who have natural birth scream, and not all women who have an epidural are silent. It's not about being a hero, but knowing that your body is perfectly capable of doing what it needs to do without interventions.

My friend always told me don't be hero!! Lol. If ur scared about the pain, then chances r u will probably want the epidural.  Just make sure u don't wait until it's too late to get one, cuz otherwise u just may have ur all natural birth like u originally wanted, screaming and yelling to get it out because ur in so much pain!!  I literally heard a woman next to my room having her baby without an epidural and she sounded like a crazy woman because of the pain..lol. meanwhile I got my eidpural and had my baby comfortably and quietly..

Just had my first child at home in a birthing tub with a midwife.  I am strongly against unnecessary drugs and medications so wanted to stay out of the hospital.  We had such a great experience.  You have to mentally prepare yourself and be sure that it is what you want.  My c

I opted for an epidural. My contractions were non stop on top of each other and very painful. My daughter ended up needing to be an emergent c section and I was glad I already was prepped for the anesthesia.

I have had three friends have epidurals, then go natural, two by choice, one because baby came so fast. The one whose baby came so fast said she's glad to have the natural experience but would still opt for the epidural if given a choice. :)

I'm going to go into this labor open minded. I can't make a decision today not knowing what my circumstances will be at the time.

I have pretty much no choice but to go natural. I have severe scoliosis with fused vertebrate so I can't have an epidural. I am worried and scared but going to take some birthing classes hopefully that will help my nerves.

I had an epidural with my first 2 children but plan on trying to do it without one this time. I was 8.5 cm when I got my epidural the second time so I am eager to see if I can go all the way this time :)

I am not but i'd just say know your plan going in. Are you ok with getting an epidural if you decide natural is too much or are you absolutely against getting one. If you are open to it just go in knowing it's there if you need it. If you absolutely decide you don't want it just make it very clear on your birth plan, to your partner, etc. not to offer it which might help to not temp you.

Best of luck. You can do it if that's what your want and you will be fine! I wad told to go in expecting there will be pain and it ends up not so bad. I Am going into it open to an epidural or no epidural. I'll decide when it's happening.

This is my first child and I'm planning a natural birth. There are two amazing books by Ina May gaskin that you should read, they have really helped me feel confident and not worry about the pain so much. Also if you want some extra support and are open minded, consider looking into hypnobabies. It's not for everyone but just learning the relaxation techniques I think are awesome!
