There are tutorials on how to make a regular tank into a nursing tank. This way you can buy cheap tanks instead of the pricier nursing ones.
Also ive always read that you aren't really supposed to wear underwire when nursing. I assume bc of the restrictiveness of it and your breasts constantly changing producing milk ect. And that's, awesome ab target bras ive just never seen any nursing bras at my target :-(
Thanks mamas! It sounds like nursing bras are a yes and most people can do without the tanks. Thanks so much!!
Ive never used a nursing bra, I just make sure the cups are flexable enough to fold down some. Using a regular bra like this though you will have to replace it much more often. And at night or around the house on a lazy day I just used a sports bra.
They make breastfeeding more convenient. As far as bras go, most regular bras have under wire and that is a big no no for nursing women. The pressure from the wire can cause blocked ducts which can lead to mastitis.
They make life a lot easier, in my opinion. Sure I got pretty adept at nursing in whatever I was wearing but having nursing tanks and shirts made it easier to be discreet and comfortable especially in warmer weather when I didn't want to have to layer too much. Shopped the clearance sections at Motherhood, Old Navy, and other places throughout my pregnancy with my son so I found a pretty good variety of things without having to pay full retail for many items.
Nursing bra is a necessity. I do buy a few nursing tank tops to wear around the house or under a regular shirt. Just easier. But I can do without. I found two pack of nursing tank tops for $25 online at h & m. And the nursing bra I got buy one get one half off at buy buy baby.
I only buy nursing bras bc it makes breastfeeding more easier. You just snap the front part n whip your boob out!
I never bought any nursing tops just nursing bras n actually stayed wearing em after I weaned my son after a yr just fit better
For tops what I do is wear whatever top I want over a tank I know I can nurse in. Just pull up the top layer and the tank down when you want to nurse. I've been breastfeeding for six months and don't own a single nursing top.
Regular tank tops work fine as long as their low enough or have stretchy straps. Regular bras though are a huge pain....you pretty much have to take it off to nurse since they are designed to hold everything in. I guess I'd you don't mins the hassle ans are trying to save money its fine...but personally I would say nursing bras are a must have. Target sells them for 16.
