First Ultrasound: is it possible to find out gender?

hello,
I went to my first ultrasound today. I went a bit late due to some hassle of changing doctors and all. Today at the ultrasound the doctor told me I am 14 weeks and 3 days. And that I can know the gender of the baby. I was surprised they can tell this early, but I was already anxious to know. So I asked, at first he said he baby had crossed its legs. A minute later doc said its a girl!! Is it possible the reading  can be wrong??

I found out at 13 weeks that I was having a boy and I'm 27 weeks now, and he's still a boy! Also with my first I found out at 16 weeks it was a boy and on Halloween I had a little boy

Yes there is a way it can be wrong the babies genitals are still forming I would wait to buy anything gender associated until you hit closer to 20 weeks and gender is still seen as a female

Yes, you can find out that early, but I would wait if I were you. I was told girl at 15 weeks for my second baby, and the ultrasounds after the baby was being too shy to tell and honestly, I thought it was a for sure. Well, fast forward to three days before my due date, and they're doing an ultrasound just to check, and the tech tells me "He's going to be a big BOY." Nursery was done. Everything was ready. Bomb dropped. Needless to say, we're letting our third be a surprise. Haha.

I'm curious why you would say a blood test is a way to find the gender of a baby??

I go next Thursday for an ultrasound to hopefully tell the gender. I will be 14 weeks the next day. I'm afraid it's too early but my friend says she does it all the time. And it's the only day she can get me in all month. I'm super nervous but at the same time my sister found out at 14 weeks

Technology is great but i wouldn't bank on anything till later. A family friend was told at 14 weeks she was having a boy, was super excited and started buying stuff, only to find out the baby was actually a girl at 2nd ultrasound

I wouldn't say "very possible"... obviously techs can never say 100% but most of them know better than to say one way or the other if they're not sure. Being that you're only 14 weeks it's possible that the tech could be wrong, especially since saying girl is basically just them saying they don't see a penis. You can have them recomfirm at your next US but I would bet that your tech got it right :)

Yes very possible. Blood tests are the only way to know for sure without risking damage to baby
