I think either is fine. As long as your family doctor accepts newborns! They may not have all the immunizations readily available. But you could just call and check. I've thought about moving my whole family to one family practice. It would just be easier to have all our records in one place!
Okay I hope so then. Seems like a better advantage to go with family doctor
I have a family doctor for my 2 yr old and am planning on switching to pediatrician. Family doctor hasn't been very helpful and doesn't seem to have answers for my questions. Just my opinion though
That is true too. Thank you mommalombardi. I guess it all depends on the doctor and how patient they are when dealing with their patients. I know I don't want to be rushed during my appointment especially if it's something more serious
I had a family dr for my 4yr old and just switched him I think kids needs to be seen by someone who works with them all the time. My newborn will also be seeing the same dr. Family dr wasn't very helpful. Good luck
I have found the family drs usually dont take patients til after 2 yrs...pediatrician deal with babies and young children specifically where as family doctors have a general practice and knowledge...I would go pediatrician!!!
You should be able just to set up an appointment with some pediatricians to meet them and ask questions.
Thank you everyone for your feedback!
I think it also matters what the family doctor specializes in. Our family doctor specializes in pediatrics so it works out for us.
