placenta right on top of cervix?

I had an ultrasound today because of passing some clots. My ob says the hemorrhage i had from week 7, part of it has passed which is good. But that i need to come back for another ultrasound to watch to see if my placenta moves because it's right on top of my cervix. I'm 16w4d. She said it could still move, but they need to monitor it. This is my second and my first was completely normal pregnancy until 38 weeks when i got preclampsia. So I'm nervous. Has anyone else had their placenta move when it was completely covering cervix? What happens if it doesn't move?

Thanks

After a bleed at 20 weeks I was told my placenta was low lying. I had an additional scan at 27 weeks and they got a good look at its position.  Even I could tell it was right on the cervix but not covering it. I'm scheduled for 32 week and 35 week scans. My midwife did tell me today to prepare for a c-section. The main complication is if you went into labour and the placenta came first.  You could bleed heavily. This is why they keep an eye on you. Better safe than sorry. Good luck!

your welcome.. yes i believe the reason for high risk is blood clots.. they will watch you closely and possibly induce you depending on how everything is going.. im hoping mine moves farther away i dont want them to end up telling me i need a csection..

Ok well that makes sense! I was so glad the clot was normal I didn't even think about asking more questions about the placenta until I got home. I have another apt Friday so i can ask more then too. Thank you!

if it doesnt move you will need a c section. and i believe you will be high risk.. not sure why.. i think its called placenta previa..  i was told my placenta was low and they want it to move but it was definitely not on the cervix. it was about 2 inches away.. they are suppose to do another ultrasound to make sure it moved but we will see.. it ban move hopefully it does for you...  when dr explained it to me its like a growing ballon when you blow one up the words dont end up in the same place.. so as your uterus grows their is a chance it will move up with it.. good luck..
