p.o big time

I am so aggravated. The Dr said since this is my sixth baby there is a very good chance I will go early. I Have thought this whole time that if I go into labor I would deliver my baby at the hospital in my city which is a few blocks from my house. Well I just found out that this hospital only delivers babies that are 36 weeks and any earlier I would have to be sent to a hospital over 100 miles away with no way for my husband to get there or me to get home to my other kids. My Dr never told me this info I found out from a relative and called the hospital to see if it was true. Why would he not warn me so I could be prepared and so I could make plans just incase. I am very angry, not because I have to go to where my baby will be safe but because I was not told. I have five small children, three of which are in school, no transportation and only one unreliable relative in this state. I have to prepare just incase to have care for my children and some kind of transportation for my husband and me when discharged from hospital. Why do Dr 's not think about the needs of the patients and how hard would it have been for them to tell me that when I asked what to do if I go into labor early?

I have been having issues. I have been Having pain, pressure and contractions. I am starting to dilate and they have told me to stay on bed rest as much as possible. My midwife said with five small children it is not possible to stay on complete bed rest but try as much as possible. I am just upset they did not warn me in my situation, they don't expect me to go full term but I hope I make it to 36-37 weeks at the very least. Thank you for the advise.

If you go earlier than 3 weeks they probably want you in a hospital that as a NICU. No hospital can turn you away so what I'd suggest is if you have problems or go into labor, go to your hospital that is close by and let them stabilize you and transport you to the correct hospital.

Since you have two in school,  it seems you might be very connected to a lot of moms.  I know when I had kids in elementary I had class lists and directories with phone numbers,  birthday parties,  etc.

So call a few of those moms up that you know and explain the situation.  In my experience,  Moms really like to be helpful in emergencies like that.

So you could have one family take your 3 school age kids,  and another family take your two preschoolers.

It seems kind of unlikely that just because this is your 6th you'll go into labor before 36 weeks if you have no other symptoms of issues.
